'Twas the weeks before Christmas

Right, like this is timely. Ha!

Thursday December 10th Chris was in the office at school on planning (after Elijah leaves school) and word through the grape vine was that he had been "a little terror" in class that day. Should we worry? What happened? What behavior will we be correcting for weeks? The little man announced to the class (we would suspect in a very opinionated way) that Santa didn't come to his house. That led to discussion over whether or not Santa is real--delivering presents on Christmas Eve. Can you hear him now, "No, he's NOT".

So Elijah had a nursery Christmas party on Jess' birthday. We went with the crew. Santa of course made an appearance. Our family is not ANT-I Santa we're just not all about Santa preferring to celebrate Jesus' birthday. The kids dictated Christmas lists to the student teachers and then Santa arrived to have little kids sit in his lap and read their list. No one volunteered to go first so Mrs. Lenzo asked "Elijah will you go first?" Pivotal moment....Will he ruin the party and ambiance for everyone or will he be brave and sit on the strange, costumed man's lap and provide his list? Yeah, he climbed up there and the party began. Whew. Caleb's list got flubbed and Santa misread "undersea guys" as "underwear". Giggles among all the parents present. The 17th we attended winter workshop at the high school where the students host the 3-10 crowd with crafts, food and entertainment. The puppet show was very good, there was face painting, cookie icing (we contributed 9 dozen cookies), and ornament making. Of course Santa was present so the kids took their yearly picture with him as a group. Hadassah did great! On the home front, we spent mid-Dec celebrating Hanukah lighting the menorah or Chanukiah as we learned it was called this year. We played dreidel for marshmallows--it was M week. Jess made latkes with good help from the kids this year and we ate them with applesauce.
