Track and field and Haddie

May was spent at track and field. For those outside the sport, a meet consists of a day waiting for your event to be called. A meet starts at 10 and may run until 6. Needless to say you learn to pack entertainment and cheer for your teammates. Parents learn to relax as relax can. Our last meet was on May 22. Caleb placed second in the 6 and under boys long jump with a jump of 6' 6". He ran his 50 meter race with a strong stride. Elijah finished his 50 meter strong and received a blue ribbon. He set a personal best in the long jump with a 27" jump. Later as he passed time he perfected his jumping technique. YAY! Rebekah ran the 100 meter well. She placed first in the 7-8 year old girls’ long jump with a jump of 7’ 6.5” Her nemesis came at 3:30 pm and the 400 meter, a race that she likes but tanked in at the last meet we attended due to heat and a stomach bug. This race with the help of 3 well positioned coaches Rebekah finished 2nd in her heat with a beautiful pace and worked race. Note the coach on the inside giving her the “go for it” call.
We celebrated the ribbon ladened day and end of the season with an impromptu trip to Outback and ate to our hearts' content. Rebekah and Caleb shared the prime rib while Elijah dined on grilled chicken and Aussie cheese fries. For him it was a night of perfection being served a bowl of Ranch to go with the fries and a bowl of ketchup to go with the chicken. It was raining when we left the restaurant to Hadassah bundled up with Jessica, literally.

Hadassah's growing by leaps and bounds. She plays with enveryone and everyone especially likes playing with her. Rebekah will take her baby sis off for reading, playing and driving. She carefully helped Haddie check out the kiddie
cars on the deck. Elijah shared his "water station" with Haddie this week. She enjoys the Ladle and tipping over the buckets of water. Hadassah also showed interest in holding her bottle on her own. Big steps. No one makes Hadassah laugh like Caleb.

We sure do enjoy reading about the events that we attend and those that we don't. It's great seeing how the children progress and interact between each other.
