This trip wouldn't be half of what it has been without the

graciousness of Uncle Bryan and Aunt Theresa Whipp, Chris' mom's brother and his wife. We are so thankful to them. We all learned somethings about ourselves in asking for, extending, and accepting the invitation to Paulden, AZ. The Whipps live 20 minutes outside of Prescott, 90 minutes south of the Grand Canyon, and within day trips of many wonderful things. We were able to use them as home base and as a launching pad

to 3 of our target destinations which allowed us to break up our stay with them and hopefully not be too much of a

burden. Days were spent getting up with a bright sun. It was very hard to sleep in there because of the wonderful sun. We were treated to marvelous breakfasts made by both Uncle Bryan and Aunt Theresa. We spent the day out doing something and returned to fabulous Aunt Theresa dinners. Uncle Bryan and Aunt Theresa were such a blessing to us and kind and patient. Two other highlights besides

tasties were the animals and the tractor ride. They have a goat and horses plus a dog and some cats. Their property is also home to an assortment of lizards and

rabbits and scorpions. Elijah was the first one to meet the horses earlier the first morning. Uncle Bryan even tossed him up there bareback and took him for a short walk. Baron is a very good horse. Haddie fell absolutely and madly in love with the border collie, Hunter. Second she fell for the horses and on her second encounter with them she rode Baron. Every morning she would wake up saying "woof woof" "*raspberry raspberry*" "woof woof" "*raspberry raspberry*" and point to the backyard. Chris took the kids on a nature walk

where they found rabbits and lizards including one very handsome

fellow under a rock and a "clear" scorpion or rather a very transparent, young scorpion. We also enjoyed a "blanket ride" pulled by the tractor all over the neighborhood and got to see burrows, horses, a barrel competition set up and other various hobbies of the neighbors. Uncle Bryan can see "thumb butte" from his house and related the story that this was not THE thumb butte and the military's mix up over it.
