It's a wonder

It's been a hectic few weeks. This week has seen the light at the end of the tunnel. The biggest thing was it got warm enough to play outside for the kids. That was huge. It got some much needed grumpiness out. We have been having fun. A most precious moment came last Friday evening when we sat down as a family to movie night. Chris and Jessica debuted "Challenge of the Super Friends" to the kids. Now everything in the house is Superman (Eljiah), Wonder Woman (Rebekah) and Flash (Caleb). It's great to be kid with your kids sometimes. They requested more episodes for their movie time the next few days. How exciting!

Fun times in this end of winter season. Everyone has the itchies--dry skin that just can't seem to be conquered but doesn't show. Elijah woke up so bad one morning Jess took pity on him and slathered him up with bath and body mango. As we were putting shoes on to leave Caleb asks, "Who smells delicious?" Rebekah says, "I smell mango!" Jessica told them, "It's Elijah." Everyone got a good laugh.

Who would have thought after 20 years you could see a toy in a whole new light? Rebekah was gifted Jessica's old stash of My Little Ponies and stable for Christmas. She really likes them. Jessica learned to braid on those pony tails. Needless to say when Rebekah wandered up with a "please can you fix this" question Jessica was taken aback to find Firefly (the pink pegasus with blue hair and little blue lightning bolts--admit it, you know the one) tail-less. With much grace, Jessica was able to reattach it. Hmmmm....

We are the proud new owners of a washing machine. It's very spiffy and easier on the dryer. This is a plus. Unfortunately it asked for "he" detergent. This sounded newfangled and difficult. Chris and I considered returning it because we were worried about buying special soap. We really like our fragrance free detergent...really like it. Yes, it's that important. Turns out there's the little "he" on the container so Jess is happily running laundry for third of 8 hours today.

The best announcement of all though is the return of The Butt. Carbutt has a new fuel pump installed in him and he sounds like new. This aleviates some of the stress to move into the minivan. Cubit (Jess' car) is up for a few repairs so we'll see where that takes us.

W week is moving along. We did "wet and wild in the water: whales and walruses" on M much to Caleb's delight. Who knew walruses were born with the mustache? Jessica pulled the Walrus and the carpenter poem from Lewis Carol. Then on T we did Wonder--God of Wonders, Wonder by the Newsboys, and Wonder from God telling Moses that "you will do MY wonders". We watched those clips from the Prince of Egypt. We watched the Super Friends episode with the origins of Wonder Woman. Then we followed it up the next day with Alice in Wonderland. I know pretty extreme.

Jessica is still working on the Volcano video from last week. The kids had a blast and we ran out of baking soda.

You're going to have to share the "Challenge of the Super Friends" with our family! We're very interested.
