Getting our kicks on Route 66

It wouldn't be fitting to be here without celebrating our family's love of Cars the movie and giving the kids a taste of Route 66. This Museum was recommended in Caleb's state book. It sat on Route 66 in the town of Clinton, OK. Where are we? Oklahoma! State count to date: oh, we took a scenic route to drive through Arkansas to increase state total. We drove within 30 miles of Jesssica's dad's "hometown" or West Forks. There's a lot of Forks in Arkansas. We went through Dry Fork. So MD, VA, WV, KY, IN, MO, AR and OK = 8 to date.
So imagine an early version of Bessie from the movie. They did a real good job showing what it was like to build the Mother Road. Then they chronicled it through the decades. We liked the hands on things and the ham it up photo ops.
Favorites for Caleb was the 50s diner. We played in there for a long time. Haddie liked the serving spoons for things like syrups and sauces. We did have to see how many Shullenbargers we could fit into a phone booth. The phone was rotary and took coins. Elijah was fascinated. You learn little intricacies about your family on vacation, like the kids don't know how to make the peace sign with their fingers. We wrote some post cards at the museum and mailed them.
