So welcome to Texas. Macaroni (that's the name of the minivan)

has been such a blessing. She got all checked over just before the trip and has been working wonderfully from space to comfort to handling and holding up. Today she got filled up on Rt 66 in Groom, Texas. Now before we go any further about that may we just state that Texas highway ramps are the most bizarre we've ever been on. We understand the

thought

process and appreciate the convenience behind it BUT they're just plain strange. So Mac got gassed up on Rt 66 and drove on it as we pulled off the interstate to see the Groom Cross sculpture garden. It was HOT. It's been hot since we hit Branson. But it's dry and windy too so it's not miserable. Rebekah

rescued a dragonfly upon arrival at

the place. He couldn't take off and control his flight in all the wind. She served as his protector until we found a spot for him in the flower garden. Of all the kids it was Caleb who wanted to be with the statues. He's not usually our artsy one. Around this cross are the

twelve stations of the cross. We did have to talk about the one with Veronica. Rebekah was confused as to why she hadn't heard that name in the story before. But before you got to the stations there was a separate garden and statue of Jesus holding a tiny tiny unborn but fully formed baby. Very moving. It actually gave the kid a handle on the size THEY used to be in the belly. The stations had scripture carved with them and were lifesized. We spent a long time there looking and getting a stretch. We also liked the cottontail we saw on the downside of the Calvary hill.
