As best we can we try to visit church on Sunday. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. We love our home church. It is very special. We have tried to hit the Sovereign Grace Ministries churches on our jaunts. Sunday made sister church #4. We got to park in visitor parking. We got to respond to the kids' pager system. We got a free book.
Since we were in Knoxville we planned to hit the Knoxville Zoo which as FONZ members was free to us. At least it would have been if we had our handy dandy pass paper on hand which was 60 minutes back down the highway at our cabin. Oh the pain of wasted time, effort, and planning! A test of humility, a test of contentment, a test of patience...
So we tried shopping again. We had passed a Babies R Us on the way to church and swung in hoping for a hiking baby pack. We found one all $109 (TN has a 9% sales tax) of it! Desperate times call for desperate measures. Then a billboard directed us to possibility of kiddy shoes at Academy sports and outdoors since back to school sales are going on here with a start date of August 2. We last visited Bass Pro in maybe 2005 for some specific lures and to entertain Caleb with the fish. Apparently they've grown in popularity. Too popular too crowded too overwhelming. Not the same with Academy. A new love was born. Shoes, nice shoes, for the kids that were tagged on sale at $16 then checked out for $11 (Yippee)! And And And a Baby hiking pack clearanced for $55!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the model UP from the one we have for the baby. Feeling blessed and accomplished we returned the Babies R Us purchase. We were heading to the cast iron cooking ware store and traffic was horrendous! We pulled over for directions.
We had noticed the Chocolate Outlet the day before and Chris wanted to go case the joint. The first thing he noticed as he walked in was the 50-75% off ALL products in the store. We can't beat $4/lb jellybellies or $2.50 Whittman's Samplers. This in the kids eyes (along with the candy THEY picked out) made the zoo fiasco and distant memory.
Chris tackled the charcoal grill for cheeseburgers.
The kids caught critters--not for dinner. Jess made tater tots and baked beans. Oh in case you're curious our
abode in Cosby is ~1000 sqft with 2 bedroom, 2 bath, joint living and dining are, and mud/laundry room. There is a lovely porch and swing and yard. We're making it wonderfully. There's no dishwasher and no dining room. The island has 4 stools and there's a pop up table with folding chairs.
