Mt. St. Helens July 16
Our budding geologist was quite taken.
This face got approached so many times in the visitor center.
Mr. Junior Ranger
This is the entrance to Ape Cave where we hit our first packing snafu.
Since it is a cave and home to bats they've had problems with boots carrying contaminants so boots that have been in other caves aren't welcome.
Jagged rocks, near freezing temperatures, total darkness...
bring it on.
We went in our sandals. Yes, inspect the picture closely, G is wearing a towel robe because we couldn't find her hoodie. She's warm though.
Campfire quesadillas
While we didn't make it to "the bridge" hiking site we found the lava tube called "The Crawl".
Rebekah and Jessica did it first and then everyone came after dinner.
The Crawl is a 35' lava tube that you slither through. It was created by a fallen tree. It was rough on the knees but so worth it. Again, hopefully, we'll get to the point of posting our videos.
They made it! Chris, Caleb, Elijah, and Rebekah. Haddie and G declined.
