My students learned 4 Bible passages and the 66 books of the bible this year. With a spread of K, 1, and 3 you always wonder what sticks in their brains. Our last acquisition was the Shema--Deuteronomy 6:4-9. It is always fun when life aligns. We're pushing through The Chronicles of Narnia. (It is the end of May and we're four chapters into book 6. Perhaps some summer reading will be necessary.) Back when we were in The Silver Chair (beautiful imagery) Jill was given a task. (Jill Pole not the children's aunt.) Aslan tells her four signs she needs to complete the task. Before he sends her into Narnia he tells her, "But, first, remember the Signs. Say them to yourself when you wake in the morning and when you..."
"Lie down and when you rise up," comes the smallest of voices.
My cup overflows!
My heart swells because not only do we have confirmation of Scripture being hidden in her heart but we have school skills going on connecting the classroom read aloud to Bible memorization.
"...lie down at night, and when you wake in the middle of the night. And whatever strange things may happen to you, let nothing turn your mind from following the Signs."
It's been a hard school year. Each one always is for some reason or another. Times like this help make it worth it.
